Theresa Villiers MP highlighted antisemitism and other forms of racism in football at Westminster Hall yesterday. Action Against Discrimination chairman Jonathan Metliss attended the debate and was delighted Villiers’ motion was unanimously passed by MPs from all parties. “It was agreed insufficient attention was paid to addressing antisemitism in football,” he said. “She presented her case thoroughly and succinctly.” AAD acted as catalyst for the debate. The motion will receive a response from a government minister. Villiers has backed Israel, called for UK aid to the Palestinian Authority not to support terrorist payments and attended Jewish community rallies against Labour antisemitism.
