The Torah world and Manchester Jewry in particular were saddened Tuesday morning to learn of the passing of a master Mechanech and Talmid Chacham, Rav Lipa Rabinowitz zt”l.

Born 91 years ago, his father was the legendary Rav Gedalia Rabinowitz zt”l who was world renowned as a Torah Scholar. Rav Lipa studied in the Yeshiva of Rav Moshe Schneider Yeshiva in London and opened a Yeshiva in Morrocco. He married the daughter of Harav Eliyhau Kushelevsky zt”l rav in Be’er Sheva, and then settled in Manchester, where he served as principal of Manchester’s Jewish Grammar School for Boys for decades.

Rav Rabinowitz was also the Rabbi of the Rumainisher Shul on Vine Street.

Around 15 years ago he emigrated to Eretz Yisrael where he opened and led a Kollel in Shaarei Chesed.

Rav Lipa leaves behind a family who are following in his great ways.
