JNF UK calls on the government and police to take immediate and decisive action, ensuring that the Jewish community is safeguarded against violent threats and that those responsible for these criminal acts are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law.
On the morning of Saturday, November 2nd, JNF UK’s Head Office in London was the target of a cowardly act of vandalism and terror. Two individuals identified as members of a pro-Palestinian group called ‘Palestine Action’, sprayed red paint across the front of JNF’s building and attempted to break in. Palestine Action brazenly took responsibility for this attack, along with other attacks they had carried out on the same day on Jewish organisations.
This incident is not the first time JNF UK has encountered hostility from groups driven by antisemitism, aimed at disrupting the vital work carried out to support vulnerable people in Israel.
JNF UK, Britain’s oldest Israel charity, has long been a beacon of support for essential humanitarian causes across Israel. Its initiatives aim to relieve poverty, improve health, and provide essential services to those facing adversity due to age, health, or financial hardship. Furthermore, JNF UK has been instrumental in spearheading educational projects, youth development, cultural preservation, and environmental protection across Israel. Its mission is deeply rooted in bringing lasting change and transforming lives, particularly in the underdeveloped peripheries.
In response to the heinous terrorist attack on Israeli civilians on October 7th, JNF UK has been aiding communities that were severely impacted. With its focus directed toward rebuilding and supporting those most affected, the charity has been pivotal in providing assistance and fostering resilience within Israel’s northern and southern communities.
Samuel Hayek, Chairman of JNF UK, issued the following statement:
“This attack on JNF UK is a shocking and unacceptable act of hate in the heart of the Jewish community. This attack was not merely against JNF UK, but also sought to intimidate the whole Jewish community. I urge the British government and police to take firm and decisive action in enforcing the Law to protect all Jewish charities and organisations from such acts of violence and antisemitic intimidation.
JNF UK deeply appreciates the unwavering support we have received in the wake of this criminal and violent attack. We remain resolute and steadfast in our mission, continuing our essential work in support of Israel and its people. We stand resilient in the face of adversity, undeterred by this cowardly act, and are proud of our work as a leading British Israel charity.”
