The exit polls say it will be a Labour landslide, with Labour achieving 410 seats, the Conservatives down to 131 seats, the Liberal Democrats with 61 seats and smaller parties such as the SNP on 10, the Green Party two seats and other parties including those in Northern Ireland on 19 seats.

This suggests a Labour majority of 100, an increase of 209 seats. The Conservatives are down to 131 which is a decrease of 241 seats, the Liberal Democrats with 61 which is 53 up. The SNP is 38 down, and Reform on an increase of 13 seats.

The exit polls suggest a landslide victory that equals that of Tony Blair’s 1997 victory for the Labour Party.

Keir Starmer will be the 4th Prime Minister in history to take the Labour party from the opposition to the government.
