Israel’s population has reached 9.2 million.

Data was released by the Central Bureau of Statistics ahead of Israel’s 72nd Independence Day.

Israel’s population grew by 171,000 people in the last year.

Figures show that 6.8 million (74%) are Jewish, 1.9 million (21%) are Arabs. Statistics include 164,000 foreign workers.

It is forecast the population will reach 11.1 million in a decade.

CBS forecasts a population of 15.2 million by Israel’s centenary in 2048.

Among the population, 78% are Israeli-born, 3.3 million people have immigrated.

There are 36.1% under 19 years of age, 31.6% aged 20-49, 25.1% over 50 and 0.6% over 90.

In the past year, 180,000 babies were born, 44,000 people died and 32,000 people made aliyah.

Since Israel was founded, 3.3 million people have made aliyah.

Israel’s population was 806,000 in 1948.
