Councillor Trevor Holt, the Mayor of Bury, accompanied by the Mayoress, Mrs Evlyn Holt, were guests at The Nicky Alliance Centre when Rabbi Yanky Prijs of The Meade Hill Shul explained the meaning and rituals of the Succah to members, staff and visitors.

Councillor Holt expressed his high regard for The Nicky and was impressed by the wide range of activities and facilities available to the members.  After lunch with the Mayor was presented with a tapestry produced during the Centre’s art classes.  Michelle Wiseman, Chief Executive of the Nicky and a former Mayor of Bury thanked The Mayor and Mayoress for taking time out of their busy schedule.  She said: “The Nicky plays an important part in the life of Manchester’s vibrant Jewish community and I believe that it is important that our civic leaders are aware of the work of The Nicky.  We were delighted to host  The Mayor and Mayoress who enjoyed meeting our members, volunteers and staff and learning about Succahs .”
