Over the past week, Aish UK saw its largest crowds ever at the launch of its flagship campus programme, ‘Genesis’. Over 400 students, across four campuses, were stunned by Jewish finalists of Britain’s Got Talent, DNA. Following an impressive mind-reading act, Darren – (the “D” of DNA) – talked about his own Jewish journey and spoke to the students about the importance of engaging with the wider community and the global Jewish family.
Following the performance, students were invited to join a discussion on the topic of ‘Reading Our Own Minds’. The class focused on understanding personal autonomy and encouraging every individual to take an active role in self-development especially in their important years of study.
The nationwide launch offered students the chance to sign up to a wide range of educational and social events on campus, as well as giving them the chance to be part of the first-ever Aish Student Leadership Committee – a brand new initiative which will bring together a group of students from all major Jewish student centres to collaborate and develop new ideas and opportunities for their peers during their time at university.
Elsewhere, students in Liverpool were treated to an exclusive performance from magician, Sacha Johnstone, himself a participant of Aish Essex and the UK’s Olami Regional Ambassador.
Director of Education Rabbi Gideon Goldwater remarked, “Being the largest launch event Aish on Campus has seen in recent years, the upcoming year looks to be one of unprecedented success.”
