JNF UK initiated its annual Green Sunday campaign in February to raise funds for a Memorial Forest in Israel commemorating the victims who tragically lost their lives in the October 7 attacks.

Fundraising for the planting of the Memorial Forest is ongoing and donors who contribute £100 or more to its creation will receive a specially designed certificate by renowned artist David Breuer-Weil. This certificate is also available to purchase, with a personalised message if required, on the JNF UK website: www.jnf.co.uk/memorialforest.

David Breuer-Weil was born in London in 1965 and studied at Central Saint Martin’s School of Art and Clare College, Cambridge. Breuer-Weil has emerged as one of the leading contemporary British sculptors, with iconic works installed in major public spaces including Hampstead Heath, Hanover Square, Grosvenor Gardens and Marble Arch in London and around the world.

Recently, David Breuer Weil’s exhibition “THIS TIME” showcased his large-scale paintings addressing contemporary issues. A standout piece, “Morning,” commemorates the events of October 7. The painting deliberately echoes the size and impact of Picasso’s 1937 masterpiece “Guernica,” which measures 3.5 meters tall and 7.8 meters wide, as David felt that recent events are on the same scale of historical magnitude.

We are committed to creating a lasting tribute to the victims of October 7 through this memorial forest,” said Elan Gorji, CEO of JNF UK. “The support from our donors will not only honour the memories of the victims but also contribute to the environmental sustainability of the region.”

Artist David Breuer-Weil emphasised the significance of designing the commemorative certificate for JNF UK, stating, “I feel that it is my duty as an artist to capture these unprecedented times in works that will survive into the future.”
