Author and social historian Pam Fox releases new book: Jews by the Seaside – The Jewish Hotels and Guest Houses of Bournemouth.
Kisharon are delighted to invite the community to meet Pam at an in-person event on Tuesday 16th November at the Childs Hill Library, a partnership library run by Kisharon. The library gives opportunity to people Kisharon support to lead a fulfilling life and have a purpose of responsibility in helping to run the library service.
The book describes the rise and decline of Bournemouth’s Jewish hotels and guest houses within the context of Anglo-Jewish history, the growth of Bournemouth as a premier resort, and the evolution of its Jewish community. Throughout the book, the focus is on those who ran, staffed, and stayed in the kosher establishments, shedding light on the dynamics of the mainly family-run businesses. Pam will be sharing humorous and poignant stories from the book and will hold a Q&A and signing. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear more about Kisharon and how the partnership library is run.
This is a free event but pre booking is required. Book Online via Eventbrite: https://tinyurl.com/cjaxxm9s or call 020 8359 3900 or email: Childshill.library@barnet.gov.uk.Kisharon and Childs Hill Library invite the community to book signing
