Kovy Simons, a Year 5 pupil at the Broughton Jewish Cassel Fox Primary School, Salford, is pictured having a lesson on Monday morning on how to blow the Shofar, the ram’s horn, which is traditionally blown during the forthcoming ‘Rosh Hashanah’, Jewish New Year morning Synagogue services. The festival commences on Sunday evening 9 September 2018 and continues on the following Monday and Tuesday. Kovy is blowing the horn under the guidance of Rabbi Moshe Feldman, a Jewish Studies teacher at the school and is watched by his classmates.
