JNF UK is delighted to announce that Brodie Freeman, a pupil aged 6 at King David Primary School in Manchester, has been selected as the winner of our Yom Ha’atzmaut Poetry Competition.

The competition, held in celebration of Israel’s 76th Birthday, invited young students to write a poem about why they love Israel. JNF UK received dozens of impressive entries from talented students across the UK, each reflecting their unique perspective and heartfelt sentiments towards Israel.

Brodie’s poem stood out for its exceptional creativity and expression. Her heartfelt words and vivid imagery beautifully captured the spirit and love for Israel, making her entry particularly memorable.

“We are incredibly impressed by Brodie’s outstanding poem”, said Elan Gorji, CEO at JNF UK. “Her work is a testament to the talent and passion of young students. It’s inspiring to see how deeply they connect with Israel and express their feelings through poetry. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Brodie and all the participants of this year’s competition.”

As the winner of the competition, Brodie was awarded a special certificate and prize from JNF UK, and a voucher for her school. The other participants received a special certificate of achievement for their remarkable efforts.

JNF UK continues to support and engage in educational and cultural initiatives that strengthen the bond between the UK Jewish community and Israel, particularly among youth. The poetry competition was part of JNF UK Kids’ magazine which is distributed to schools five times a year before Jewish festivals. It is filled with fun, educational facts and activities relating to Israel.
