Marking part of their 70th year celebrations, £4,000 was raised by and on behalf of the Aid Society Southend and Westcliff`s warden Geoffrey Pepper. Proceeds are ringfenced towards the Garden Project at the Jewish Community Centre in Cobham Road run by Jewish Care in Westcliff.

The project is designed to improve the wellbeing of the residents` in quiet peaceful contemplation!

After Geoffrey`s walk on which he was accompanied by “minder” former long-time Chairperson Jeffrey Greenstein, a reception was given by the Aid Society,

at the Community Centre. It was attended by SWHC`s Rabbi Geoffrey Hyman, members of the Aid Society Committee and SWHC, as well as residents` of Shebson Lodge.The Aid Society is a voluntary charity that raise funds locally for elderly Jewish people in need in the City of Southend and the surrounding district, in conjunction with Jewish Care.
