Shul turns into Professional Chinese Restaurant for a night – In Buckhurst Hill
In Essex, there thousands of Jews, enough who do keep strictly kosher, however, the Community can’t seem to support a Kosher Restaurant. Along comes Chabad Buckhurst Hill with a solution – says Rabbi Brandman – “we have a great modern hall, workable kitchen, great location with easy parking and the expertise within the community to do this, so we turn the Shul into a fully functioning kosher restaurant as often as we can and serve a completely unique and different menu every time!
Over 140 people packed into Chabad of Buckhurst Hill on Sunday for a “Kosher Chinese Restaurant Night”.
People couldn’t believe their eyes as they walked into a room that is usually set up as a shul and had now been transformed into a Kosher Chinese Restaurant! The room which is used on a weekly basis as a place of prayer had been converted the night before into a roller disco rink for kids and teens and had now been transformed in less than 24 hours into a fully functional restaurant. Then, the next morning, everything was packed away and toys were brought out for the weekly Babyccino class, all within the span of 48 hours!!!
The menu boasted a delicious variety of Chinese food that left the people asking for more. The night went off without hitch and was very enjoyable for all those involved.
The next Restaurant Night is Fish & Chips on the 26th December.
Rabbi Brandman said, “it is all about being flexible and serving the needs of the community, we have a fantastic team here at Chabad Buckhurst Hill and it is their dedication that makes all we do possible”.
