GIFT volunteer family Goodman from Hendon, spent the Chanukah holidays volunteering and doing acts of kindness with charity GIFT.

Attending a packathon, packing food parcels for over 1000 of GIFT’s recipients and then delivering support packages, mum Natasha & dad Elliot, got the giving bug and wanted to do more!

The family also visited Hendon Fire Station on to cheer up firefighters who were working throughout the winter holidays; giving them decorated mugs, mince pies and doughnuts.

The mugs had been beautifully decorated by pupils at North West London Jewish Day School on Mitzvah Day at a GIFT education session, to be given out to police, nurses and firefighters in appreciation of their service to the community.

Keren Pinhus, GIFT volunteer coordinator, told us  “ Over the winter break it was so great to see such a range of volunteers dedicating time out of their holidays to give back to the community. From children, to teens and adults of all ages; it was lovely to see how excited they were to be involved. The Goodman family was a great example of this, Elliot Goodman who delivers food parcels to our GIFT recipients and who ran the Maccabi Community Fun Run with this family,  brought them along to volunteer. A week of giving left the family with a great feeling  and with huge smiles on their faces!

GIFT volunteering options continue after the holidays with ongoing regular and ad hoc opportunities such as packing and delivering support packages; volunteering after school with families in need of extra support; visiting care homes, tutoring, mentoring and more!.
