Kids are having a ball at Jewish Care’s Redbridge Jewish Community Centre’s Summerworld holiday scheme. They’ve enjoyed the circus theme, keeping all the balls and sticks in the air at juggling and plate-spinning workshops. They also had a great time at competitions week and will learn how to juggle tasks at the Little Big Me themed week where find out what it’s like to be working in the police, or as medics, chefs, engineers and business leaders of the future. On Fridays the children enjoy preparing for Shabbat by singing some Shabbat songs, making kiddush and having some grape juice and challah.

RJCC Youth and Family Coordinator, Emma Senitt, says, “Our holiday schemes and after school clubs create opportunities for primary school age children to socialise, have fun and form new friendships and our leaders get to know each child so they have as much fun as possible. We are looking forward to our animal afternoons and visits from Guide Dogs as well as our magical week of Wizarding School to finish off.”

Emelia, age 6 said, “I really enjoy doing art at Summerworld. I’ve made a Circus in a Box, an Olympic Torch, trophies and a gold medal. Some of my friends from school come too and it’s lovely to see them”.

Another young participant, Alex age 4 says, “I have lots of fun at Summerworld and I like the yummy food.” Claire, Alex’s Mum, adds, “As a parent it’s great to know your child is having so much fun and enjoying themselves – making new friends and in a safe, happy and caring environment”

Together with the youth and family team, the summer programme is run by young leaders who have been trained through the Centre’s MIKE leadership programme, which stands for Motivation, Inspiration, Knowledge and Education, who are dedicated young leaders who bring a whole lots of fun and experience to Summerworld.

Summer world runs until 16 August. To find out more and sign up for the the scheme or for the next RJCC half-term holiday scheme 23-35 October, please get in touch with RJCCyouth@jcare.org or 020 8418 2119.
