Sandra Alexander, Well Being Coordinator at Jewish Care’s Selig Court independent living apartments is cycling a Tour de Jewish Care on her exercise bike, covering the distance from Stepney to Selig Court via Southend. She will be virtually taking in the Jewish Care homes and community centres en route and began last week. Sandra will be riding each day to raise sponsorship for the organisation’s wellbeing activities and events online.

Sandra says, “Covid-19 has dramatically impacted on the way we are able to socially engage with clients since the start of the pandemic and we have been expanding our online programme. We offer weekly drama classes to Holocaust survivors and refugees and community centre members. Art appreciation, guest speakers and musical afternoons are just some of our Zoom events available to the whole organisation, including our residents and community centre members and to the whole community. The online programme is helping to alleviate isolation and depression and providing stimulation, excitement and a feeling of community in these difficult times.”
