Wohl Ilford Jewish Primary School supported three charities this year for Mitzvah Day and were overwhelmed by the generous donations received from WIJPS families.

With the help of the Year Six  House Captains, pupils collected food and toiletries for the Redbridge Food Bank, toys and games for Camp Simcha and used postage stamps for the Royal National Institute for the Blind.  Each charity sent a representative who joined pupils for morning Tefillah and Kabbalat Shabbat before speaking to pupils about their work.  The school also welcomed four students from Kantor King Solomon High School who helped with the collectathon and kindly packed all the donated goods ready to be sent to the charities.  Pupils also made Get Well Cards to be distributed by Camp Simcha to children in hospital.

Mrs Deborah Harris, Jewish Studies Lead, said:  “Mitzvah Day is about doing acts of kindness.  It is wonderful seeing our WIJPS families coming together to make a difference to the wider community and thinking of those less fortunate.”
