Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz officially visited Switzerland this week to try resolve legislation enabling Israeli officials to avoid arrest over alleged war crimes when entering the country.
Katz met President Ueli Maurer amongst a number of meetings where he affirmed the State of Israel would not back down from a right to self-defense against Islamist terror threats.
Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert cancelled a visit to Switzerland last month following advice from the Foreign Ministry and Justice Ministry that he would face questioning over alleged war crimes during the 2008 IDF campaign in Gaza while Israeli leader.
A complaint was filed against former Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni by a pro-Palestinian group following a 2017 visit but she attended without incident the World Economic Forum in Davos this year.
