WIZO held its second annual charity golf day at Hartsbourne Golf Club on Monday 5th August, this time just for ladies. The event was supported by over 90 players and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The teams battled on through an initial downpour, although the sun finally shone through!

The winning team were (pictured above, left to right): Sharon Landau, Jo Fogel, Gill Burns and Wendy Cohen, who were delighted with their win, each receiving a prize of a beautiful piece of chinaware.

Guests enjoyed a delicious breakfast before play began and then a sumptuous lunch afterwards, all provided by Hartsbourne Golf Club. To keep the players ‘on par’, the food at the halfway house was reported to be the best that players had ever experienced, all generously sponsored by Janet Gold.

Ronit Ribak Madari, WIZO’s Chairperson, is pictured below (fourth from the right) with the golf committee (left to right: Janine Berg, Caron Julius, Leslie Rose, Joy Shapiro (Chairman of the committee) and Anne Orman, together with Maureen Fisher, Director of Fundraising and Marketing at WIZO (second right) and Lydia Drukarz, Events Organiser (far right).

Ronit was thrilled with the day. “We are delighted with the amount raised”, she said. “This will go towards much needed renovation and refurbishment work still to be completed for our centenary fundraising focus, the WIZO Vocational High School in Jerusalem, our ‘School of Dreams’. Not only were the players able to enjoy a fantastic day of golf and hospitality, but they played in the knowledge that they were ‘changing the game’ for vulnerable and disadvantaged teenagers for whom, without WIZO, there would be no hope of becoming ‘winners’. I’d like to say a huge thank you to Joy Shapiro and her wonderful committee, who worked really hard to make the day so successful and to Hartsbourne Golf Club for their beautiful venue and their super efficient team! A great day!”
