In an unfortunate event reported this evening, the Lucerne Yeshiva, which is today based in Canvey Island, has been destroyed by fire.

Whilst Baruch Hashem there does not appear to have been any injuries, serious damage has been done to the building, which burst into flames, destroying Sifrei Torah and Tefillin r”l among other possessions.

Whilst the cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed, there are suggestions that an unattended Menorah may have sparked the blaze.

Readers are reminded to excercise extreme caution, especially with regards to distancing Menorahs from curtains and other flammable materials.
