A Palestinian terrorist died and three others were injured during the latest West Bank clashes on Tuesday.
The incident came as Israel Defence Forces entered a Qalandia refugee camp north of Jerusalem on an arrest mission.
Twelve Palestinians wanted for “involvement in terror activity and violent disturbances” were arrested. Israeli forces also arrested senior Hamas official, Hassan Yusif, in Ramallah.
And forces operating in Beit Omar, south of Jerusalem confiscated home-made illegal weapons.
Palestinian news agency Wafa named the victim as 23-year-old Mohammad Ali Dar Adwan.
Wafa reported three brothers were arrested during the raid.
An IDF spokesman said Israeli forces came under attack by Palestinians after entering the town.
“Violent disruptions erupted, including stone and explosives being thrown at the forces,” noted a statement.
The army added that the incident would be investigated.
The incident followed an estimated 40,000 demonstrators attending the anniversary of March of Return mass protests along the Israeli border in the Gaza Strip over the weekend.
Most demonstrators kept a distance from the border but pockets of militants threw stones and explosives at Israeli troops.
The IDF utilised crowd dispersal measures, killing four Palestinians and wounding 64 during troubling incidents. But there was less trouble than anticipated at five rallying points along the border with Israel.
Hamas pledged to keep crowds away from the perimeter fence to avoid harming negotiations. Hamas officials say Israel is offering economic incentives in return for calm on the border.
IDF spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Jonathan Conricus, acknowledged “significantly less violence”, stating Hamas could stop violence if it wished to do so.
And the military released footage of protesters gathered near the fence hurling missiles.
“Rioters are hurling rocks and setting tyres on fire, in addition, a number of grenades and explosive devices have been hurled at the Gaza Strip security fence,” added an IDF statement.
Netanyahu praised the IDF’s preparation and performance in maintaining “calm.”
Earlier in the day, Gaza health officials said Israeli troops killed a 21-year-old Palestinian man near the perimeter fence.
An Israeli army spokesman confirmed around 200 Palestinians “rioted during the night along the fence”. A Gaza hospital worker reportedly added that Palestinian groups routinely burnt tires and detonate explosives near the fence at night to distract soldiers and disturb residents of nearby Israeli communities.

But the IDF is monitoring the situation closely after noting “unusual activity” by members of the Islamic Jihad’s military wing in locations along border fence.
Israel’s military said the militant group were behind six rockets fired at Gaza border communities on Sunday morning. Israeli tanks struck Hamas observation posts inside Gaza, in response to the rocket fire. No casualties were reported and no Palestinian group has claimed responsibility.
The rocket attack is believed to be a response to four Palestinians killed in clashes.
The incident threatened to destabilise Egyptian-mediated ceasefire efforts.
Despite the attacks, Kerem Shalom and Erez border crossings, were reopened. And Israel’s military expanded the fishing zone for Palestinian fishermen in Gaza from 22km (12 nautical miles) to 28km (15 nautical miles), a distance last seen before the second intifada.
The zone had been closed after rocket fire destroyed a house of an Israeli-British family in Israel, injuring seven people.
The latest move was seen as a positive step in terms of ceasefire talks.
“This is a part of our policy, which distinguishes between terrorism and general population, of preventing the deterioration of humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip,” said Kamil Abu-Rukun Government Activities in the Territories coordinator.
“Any deviation from the extended zone will be handled accordingly by the security forces.”
